British Wheel of Yoga Foundation One Course

Deepen your practise and expand your knowledge of yoga, develop mindful movement. This course involves 60 hours of experiential study. Learn about the eight limbs of yoga, the history of yoga, philosophy, chakras, and types of yoga.

2022 Foundation Course dates to be announced later this year.

Requirement: Two years' experience with a quality-assured practitioner (BWY or other valid training). Places are selective and limited.

This is not a teacher training course but it will provide the basics and serve as an introduction to BWY diploma (although not a compulsory prerequisite this foundation course is useful preparation for those wishing to train to become a BWY Yoga Teacher). It will also be complementary to other yoga training courses such as 200 hours or 500 hours Yoga Alliance.

Syllabus

The course includes practical and theoretical work on the eight limbs of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras including: asana, pranayama, concentration techniques and meditation, as well as topics such as the history of Yoga and the different paths and schools of yoga. The core syllabus includes:

Prerequisites

Minimum of 2 years experienced with a yoga teacher (reference required) You must also be willing to regularly attend (minimum of 80% attendance is required to get the BWY Foundation certificate) and you will be expected to do some reading and research during the course.

Introductory Day

If suitable for the course you will be invited to the Introductory Day. The British Wheel of Yoga recommends attending the Introductory Day if you are thinking of doing the course.

On the day you will be able to meet the tutor and the other students in the beautiful surroundings of Home Farm. It will be a good chance to experience an introduction to some of the practices we explore in Foundation 1 and find out if it is the path for you. As well as to ask Natasha any questions you may have about the course.

Location

Natasha's courses take place in picturesque locations across rural Nottinghamshire and the East Midlands. Such as the beautiful Ecocentre at Home Farm.2

Cost

£650 course fee plus BWY registration fee (£60) £37 BWY annual membership (Students need to be a member of BWY before the course begins).

Once you're accepted on the course, you will need to provide £160 non-refundable deposit. The remainder of the fee is due on the first day of the course. It is important to note that all fees are non-refundable after the course commences.
